Our Blog

New Year, New Goals, New Home!

While 2020 presented new challenges for us here at Maddie’s Footprints (MFP), it has also offered the opportunity for us to refocus on what is important and what we need to do to be sure that MFP is around to help families here in Acadiana for many years to come. We are still planning on hosting the same awesome events that you guys have come to expect from us – our annual gala is set for Friday, April 16th at the DoubleTree – a larger venue to accomodate our growing event, and our Footprints Forever 5k is set for Saturday, October 16th. Stay tuned for the theme for our gala to be announced on social media soon. You won’t want to miss it!

This year we are adding a new event in the fall of 2021, Fighting Spirits (similar to an event you may remember, Clash of the Cocktails), at The Madison in Broussard on Friday, September 17th. This event is a competition between the most popular bartenders in Acadiana to see who will be crowned the Best of the Best for 2021. Stay tuned for more details on the event, including the fun theme that we have planned!

Finally, our new home … We are so excited about our new space! We are now housed at the Realtor Association of Acadiana building at 234 Rue Beauregard, Suite 201. We are getting settled in now, but as soon as it is safe to do so, we will be hosting an open house for everyone to be able to tour our space, especially the upgraded Room For Hope where all of our in person support group meetings will be held again soon (fingers crossed).

THANK YOU for all of your support in 2020. Because of you, we were able to assist 230 families and pay out over $140,000 in financial assistance to cover burial and medical costs associated with their miscarriage, stillbirth or infant loss. Because of you, over the last ten years, Maddie’s has helped over 1,700 families and has paid out over $942,000 in financial assistance. Because of you, we are looking forward to another year of supporting local families as they face a situation that no one ever wants to experience.

Thanks for sticking with us, and Happy New Year!
